The History of Old South Country Club

Old South Country Club

Located in southern Anne Arundel County, town of Lothian, the Club was established in 1990.  The 18-hole championship golf course was designed by Lindsay Ervin, and features bent-grass greens, tees, and fairways.

Old South derived its name from the founding group of gentlemen who owned a fitness club with the same name and envisioned a spectacular golf course overlooked by a majestic clubhouse built in the style and tradition of a southern mansion.  The clubhouse was erected in 1991, and Har-Tru tennis courts and a pool followed soon after.

The Club has been the site of numerous state, regional, and national qualifiers as well as outings and tournaments sponsored by private companies and individuals.  Today, Old South is still the premier private country club in southern Anne Arundel County and continues to host notable outings and matches, such as the Nationwide qualifier, the Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic, and the Maryland Black Caucus.  The members at Old South enjoy a lifestyle of privacy, privilege, and prestige amidst the rolling Maryland hills and in the good company of one another.
